Despite its essential role in memory, the hippocampus is susceptible to damage from various factors. Stress, ageing, and certain neurological conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease, can negatively affect its function. Understanding the hippocampus and its role in memory is crucial for unlocking the mysteries of memory disorders and developing potential treatments.
